Tim Kemery, LCSW

Tim is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing in the New Orleans area for over 45 years. He received his Master’s degree in Social Work from Tulane University in 1975 and has since received advanced training in mediation, parent coordination, child custody evaluations, therapeutic supervised visitation and parent plan development. The courts of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish and The Louisiana Bar Association have recognized him as an expert in these areas. In 1986, Tim established Family Care Inc. to provide mental health services to the Greater New Orleans community. After his extensive work with couples, families, and children, Tim founded Family Divorce and Mediation Center. After Tim separated the two companies, he restructured the Divorce and Mediation Center and re-named the company Family Mediation and Divorce Center.

Nikki received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tulane University in 2000 and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego in 2004. She is EMDR certified and has had extensive training in Child Parent Relationship Therapy, Play Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She began working as a Mental Health Professional in Mental Health Rehabilitation in 2005 then took a hiatus to concentrate on raising her three sons. Currently, Nikki is the Program Director of Family Mediation and Divorce Center as well as the Co-Parenting Educator, Parenting Educator, Parenting Consultant and Coach, Adjustment Coach, and supervised visitation coordinator. She is also the Founder of Learning Through Play, LLC, which focuses on family, parent, marital and child enrichment and education.

Christy Waters

Christy has worked in the New Orleans area for over 30 years.  In 1989, Christy graduated from Tulane University with her Master’s degree in Social Work and gained her Social Work licensure in 1992. During her career, she has worked as a therapist and program director with Associated Catholic Charities before accepting employment with the U.S. Probation Office. There, she worked as a Mental Health Specialist before she was promoted to the position of Supervisory Probation Officer in 2001. Christy has worked with adolescents and their families, supervised offenders with moderate to severe psychiatric issues, monitored offenders’ compliance and progress, taught social skills training and cognitive behavioral classes, coordinated treatment services, and supervised officers, monitoring their caseloads. At Family Mediation and Divorce Center, Christy is a supervised visitation coordinator and monitor, providing supervised visitations, facilitated supervised visits, supervised exchanges as well as co-parenting educational services.

Kitty White, LCSW

Kitty is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 50 years of experience. She has a broad knowledge of crisis counseling and extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy and children’s mental health issues. Kitty completed her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology in 1974 from the University of Southern Mississippi and additionally received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Tulane University in 1979. Throughout her years as a family therapist, school social worker, and clinical social worker, Kitty’s work experiences include working at Family Services, being the Director of Clinical Social Work for two mental health centers in Georgia and Louisiana as well as being the Director of Counseling services for the Georgia Psycoeducational System. Recently, Kitty retired from the St. Tammany Parish Public School System where she worked as an evaluation coordinator for Pupil Appraisal Services. Currently, Kitty continues to work with children, families, and adults in her private practice and at Family Mediation and Divorce Center, where she is a Supervised Visitation Monitor providing therapeutic and basic visitation monitoring and supervised exchange services.

Jessica Leonard

After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2020, Jessica moved to New Orleans to reunite with her family and get back to her roots. Since graduating, she has gained significant experience in the healthcare field, specifically the care of children, and the mental and physical health care of families and individuals of all ages. Currently, she works as a medical assistant at LCMC Health at Tulane Medical Center in addition to her work at Family Mediation and Divorce Center. At Tulane, her focus is on specialized pediatric, geriatric, and neurologic patient care. Here at Family Mediation and Divorce Center, Jessica is a supervised visitation monitor who provides supervised visitation and supervised child transfer services.

Alexandria Barnes-Jefferson

Alexandria received her Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Development from Delgado Community College during high school, and later obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from Southern University of New Orleans in 2013. Alexandria has over 15 years of experience working with kids and families in the greater New Orleans area through her work as a Mental Health Specialist with both Family Care and Community Care Solutions and as a Wraparound Facilitator, Teacher and Substitute Teacher. Much of her adult life has focused on restoring people’s quality of life, community service, education, and outreach work. Alexandria is currently a Middle School Special Education and ELA Teacher at Laureate Academy Charter School, and at Family Meditation & Divorce Center, she is a Supervised Visitation Monitor who provides supervised visitations and supervised exchange services.
